Freedom From Speech? – The Dialogue #68

Does the Western World care about freedom of speech anymore? When you look at the latest explosion of news regarding Milo Yiannopoulos, it’s hard to say. We’ll be talking about the latest “Milo” drama, what he said, and didn’t say about sex abuse, how the media has reacted, and what that tells us about how much/little we care about free speech in the modern Western World. By the way it isn’t a defense of Milo but an analysis of the drama surrounding him.

  1. Hi Tim/Cal,
I remember when you could get the facts on a story from the press even though the perspective of the newspaper editors didn’t like it. There was a level of confidence in the journalist that they knew about the subject matter. In this day and age integrity and character are seen as irrelevant and in my opinion we now have the phenomena of “Fake News ” as a result.
It’s rather troubling that Milo was unable to speak at a university a place normally associated with ideas and dialogue if that’s not ironic I don’t know what is
    Keep up the good work

  2. Celtic barry I also remember those day when you had faith in the media/news/journalists.  Sadly those days are gone. Imbalance is everywhere. That’s why it’s so important for the people to be balanced, and to be good thinkers.  We have to be able to see through the haze. Bad reporting can’t trump good and balanced thinking.
I’m glad you enjoyed the episode. God be with you brother.
